Denon DRM-510
This is by far, the best cassette deck I ever had. I found it in an antique store in mint condition, and I've used it quite extensively. I also have other decks (Sony TC-FX400, Kenwood KX-W6030, Pioneer CT737), but the Denon DRM-510 is the one I'm the most pleased with.
The playback and the recording is superb, on all kind of tapes. I played even original tapes from 1968-1982, and a large range of new tapes (post 1985), normal types, chromdioxides and metal, and for all of them the playback is great. Also, it has the lowest hiss/noise even with the noise reduction turned off. (I'm saving the tape records on the computer to convert them digitally, and this deck has the lowest hiss of all). I've also recorded a lot of tapes with it, and played them on different cassette players (hi-fi systems, decks, car player, microsystems), and the result is great, the tapes recorded with the Denon DRM-510 have the best dynamics, and a wide frequency spectrum, ranging from a deep bass to high frequencies. I've also amplified some frequencies (pre-recording equalizer), and differently from other tape decks, the Denon doesn't distort the recorded sound when the source provides amplified bass/hi-hats.I'm very pleased with this model, and my overall rating for it is 10/10.
