- I've been keeping this deck like a treasure, but then again i've always been keeping it operational.
- Since it was made in my year of birth, my dad bought it back then, together with his brother (they both owned their own). I remember when my uncle gave his deck to my dad somewhere in the eighties, and my dad connected them both to the amp, so we had a 'double deck solution': no hi-speed dubbing, but double noise reduction combined with ajustable recording volume (i've never encountered a cheap double-deck with that option. :-). By the time i went to live on my own, i had a stereo set with one of those KX-530 decks. As you can see in the picture it now supports my monitor, but it's also connected to my PC and i still use it to play tapes. One time (about three years ago) i thought it was damaged, but then a dirty tape seemed to have swept some dust on the heads. After i cleaned them with a cotton stick and a tiny but of alcohol, it sounded 'chrome clear' again! Only part that's really broken is the light in de VU-meter, but only after 32,5 years of loyal service. :-)

- I have exactly the same deck, but has now unfortunately died. I'm devastated, but It is well over 20 years old. I suppose it's lasted well considering. The sound quality, particularly at high frequencies, is exceptional. I have tried to find a new replacement, but quality of modern decks doesn't compare.
