- This was the first and the WORST so called HiFi cassette deck that I have ever purchased.
- Originally purchased from The Western Music Company in Croydon High Street in 1973. This awful machine went wrong 13 times in the year that I had it until disposed of to a work colleague in 1974, after which I purchased a Teac A360.(that also had problems!) In that year, the shop actually gave me a brand new model 4 times in an attempt to rectify matters. The faults, some of which repeated themselves more than once, included pre amp failure, failures of left or right channel output, input failure, again on right or left channel or both, complete power failure, severe tracking and azimuth errors, which included the novelty of hearing some of side 1 of a cassette coming through backwards when playing side 2. My sad case was even featured on the then BBC TV's magazine programme's Nationwide consumer desk section. Needless to say, I have NEVER bought any other audio products by Philips, though their rotary razors are rather good!
