Philips 09 Mini Set: This great looking Philips mini set from the early eighties always attracted me ... Recently I finally managed to buy the complete set!; It's not a plastic cheap mini set, NO it's a heavy piece of technology. The blue metering in the AH-309 is really stunning and the units (Tuner AH-109 and Pre-amp AH-209) were also designed smart so they can be combined in different ways and always stack well on top or next to each other. The power amp is optional if you use active (MFB) speakers. I use the set in combination with a pair of Technics SB-F3's, also heavy aluminum construction! My set works perfectly only the deck N5581 is not working so I will have to give it some TLC. Interesting note is that the world's first CD player, the Philips CD-100, has an identical design, the same aluminum front. Sadly this also heavy player is bigger so it doesn't stack on top of the mini set, but fits beautifully next to it!
